TERESA GRIMES

A resident of Cayman since 1986, Teresa is originally from Baltimore where she received her BA from the University of Maryland in Classical Archaeology/Classical Art in 1975. 


Following graduation, with a year’s study of Art Restoration and Life Drawing at L’Accademia di Belli Arti in Ravenna, Italy - she began painting. 


Since then, various courses, workshops, and “plein air” retreats over the past 30 years have furthered her development. 


Working mainly in oils and acrylics, her pieces have been purchased by The Visual Art Society, Cayman National Cultural Foundation, and the Cayman Islands Museum. Her work is also in private collections both locally and abroad. 


Past Awards: 

Her acrylic painting "Head of Barkers - Mangrove" was purchased by the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands in 2012 for their permanent collection. 

Her acrylic painting “West Bay Skyline Collage” was given the Ogier Award in 2010.

She was one of 14 painters representing Cayman in the Guyana Carifesta in 2008.

Her oil painting “Rapture” was one of five pieces selected to represent Cayman in the Carib Art - 

Traveling Exhibition which opened in Curacao in 1993. 

Her oil painting “Thatchscape” was one of four chosen to represent Cayman at the Biennial in the Dominican Republic in 1994. 

Her oil painting “East End Roadside” was purchased by the Cayman Islands Government in 1990 for the Governor’s Residence.
